The Play-Well Company Issues Recall of Zoomers Toy Cars
MIAMI, FLORIDA, October 16, 2019 – This morning, the Play-Well Company announced a voluntary recall of all Zoomers toy cars sold after receiving reports of their electrical components malfunctioning

Play-Well and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has received 800 reports stating that their toy cars are malfunctioning, even when parked and stored. Children received minor injuries and some fires have been reported. After careful deliberation, and with public safety as the top priority, Play-Well has decided to immediately recall their Zoomers toy cars.
The company is making every effort to help consumers identify if their model needs repairs. The recall does not include any car sold before Nov 2008, only those sold after that time. All models with two batteries are being recalled so parents should look for model names on each vehicle, disable the card immediately, and not let their kids use vehicles until any repairs have been made. Michael Hayes, vice president of Play-Well’s consumer relations states that they’re “working closely with the CSPC on this to make sure parents know how to protect themselves and their kids.”

Batteries of all Zoomers models should be immediately removed and customers should contact a service center to schedule repairs. There, they will install new electrical parts and safety checkups free of charge.
