OOHO!

The assignment was to compose an E-press release for the real company Skipping Rocks Lab to announce an upcoming event at the 2019 NYC Marathon. This was a part of a large midterm press kit in which I had to create PR for an event from start to finish. Please refer here to see more.

Skipping Rocks Lab to Introduce Their Ooho! Water Bubble with Olympian Kara Goucher at the 2019 New York City Marathon

The London based startup to lead the sustainable packaging market into New York City

LONDON, ENGLAND, October 3, 2019 - On Sunday, November 3, 2019, Skipping Rocks Lab will make their New York City debut by teaming with Olympian Kara Goucher to introduce their Ooho! water bubble at the upcoming 2019 New York City Marathon.

As a native Queens New Yorker, marathoner, and 2x Olympian, Kara Goucher will bring her family to the 2019 New York City Marathon to hand out Ooho! water bubbles, a biodegradable alternative to water cups. Goucher made her marathon debut at the 2008 New York City Marathon where she finished in 3rd place. Since then, she’s participated in marathons from New York, to Boston, and to South Korea. Now, she will return to her hometown to welcome the marathoners entering Manhattan from Queens through the Queensboro Bridge.

The Ooho! Water Bubble is one of Skipping Rocks Lab’s many products made from their NOTPLA technology,  an edible membrane created using a natural seaweed extract that encircles drinkable liquid. The consumer can choose to eat it whole or tear it open and trash the membrane packaging that will biodegrade in about 4-6 weeks, similar to a piece of fruit. NOTPLA can hold liquids such as water, soft drinks, spirits, cosmetics, and condiments.
